PROBLEMS IDENTIFIED
With an vision to launch new smart medical devices and creating an ecosystem in itself, the current production application did not align to the goal, it is an hardcoded application and not a scalable solution.
The application designed was device specific and would work only on a tablet. Due to this the device cost had to be borne by the company.
Manual entry of the serial number of parts had to be entered by the user, leading to errors. Ownership and responsibity were factors affected by this when the user responsible could not be tracked down. This led inconsistencies while mapping the realeased part - used part - machine details.
Data driven analysis was complicated as traditional methods were being used, made it difficult for resourse planning, finances and sales.
OPPORTUNITIES
An efficient way to record the part serial number, scanning it. This eliminates human errors while entering the serial ID.
Submitting a part defect, keeping a track of its resolution. This pauses the next steps until the defect has been resolved.
Eliminating cross platform working methodology. Having a commonly used device like the mobile phone, which reduces the learning curve of using the appplication
Creating multiple dashboards that help analyse the data, derrive insights and this in-turn helps drive business decisions, inventory managemnent.
BUSINESS GOALS
Data and inventory management - Through the application, the process has been made transaparent and thus helping generate insightful data based on parts used, defective and usabale parts, stock management, finance management that can drive business decisions.
Making the product scalable and focusing on a system driven approach - A systematic process for all upcoming products is mandatory which needed a scalable solution, which could be expanded based on the new product needs. This makes it tiem efficient and sustainable.
Ensuring that production agents take responsibility for the work done that leads to parity and fair decisions, helps in maintaining a healthy work environment

UNDERSTANDING THE PRODUCTION PROCESS
1. Production Orders
A production order is an order issued within a company to produce a specific quantity of material within a certain timeframe
2. Mainline
In this stage the machine will be in the manufacturing phase, parts will be assembled in the machine in different stations. Each station has predefined parts number that will be added to the machine.
3. Pre-Use Inspection
When the part are assembled into the machine, it will be transferred to Inspection and Testing Sections. These tests have been definedby the Product and Engineering team.
4. Endurance Tests
The endurance test will determine the resistive power of the machine against extreme values.
5. Performance Tests
In Performance Testing each module of the machine is tested against the guidelines and inputs provided by the Product and Engineering Team.
6. Final Tests
This is the final stage in the production process, where the machine must go through a final test and meet all the necessay standards.
